The writer and translator Helena Kadare, in a television interview, in addition to talking about her career, also showed her family life with the writer Ismail Kadare and her two daughters. In a very personal account, Helena shared many unspoken details. Among other things, she revealed "In Peter Pan's Trap" the reason why her husband did not give her a ring.
"It was not given to me because we were a generation that called ourselves very modern, excluding these customs. There were some conservative habits outside of our tastes", said Helena.
She said that before she met him and fell in love with him, she knew all of the writer's poems, while Ismaili did not know him at all.
"He received the award of the Republic, I was a student in high school and everyone knew that I knew all his poems by heart and they had laid out his newspaper photos for me. He didn't know me at all. I published a story in 'Voice of Youth'. He was in Moscow, he had finished his studies here and went for specialization. Albanian newspapers used to go there in a hotel in Moscow. He saw this story and wrote me 3 lines (where he wrote): "I read your story, write and don't be afraid." The whole gymnasium found out about this when this letter arrived. Then, when he came to Albania, we met by chance on the street", said Helena.
