Marco Romeo, the Italian citizen sentenced to 24 years in prison for the murder of his ex-partner Paula in Torremolinos in 2023, has admitted for the first time that he is the author of the murder of Albanian Sibora Gagani, an event that occurred in 2014.

According to Spanish media, the 48-year-old had denied involvement in the murder of the 22-year-old Albanian woman for years, claiming that he had only hidden her body after her death. He had even previously accused Spanish authorities of manipulating the investigation against him.

But in a recent document presented by the defense, Romeo has changed his version, admitting that he killed the young woman inside the apartment where they lived together and then hid the body in a double wall built into the apartment.

The body of Sibora Gagan was discovered after his arrest for the murder of another woman, Paula. According to Spanish police investigations, the 22-year-old was placed in a wooden box and covered with lime to prevent decomposition and detection of the body.

Near the body, investigators also seized a knife with traces of blood, as well as a bouquet of flowers.

According to the Spanish Prosecutor's Office, Romeo and Sibora Gagani met in 2009 in the Italian city of Nettuno, when the young Albanian woman was only 18 years old. A year later, the couple moved to Spain to live in Torremolinos.

Investigations show that the crime occurred during the period July 7-14, 2014. According to the indictment, the Italian attacked the Albanian woman with a knife, causing several fatal wounds, including a stab wound to the back.

The prosecution is seeking 22 years in prison for Marco Romeo on charges of premeditated murder in the context of gender violence and concealment of the corpse.

Meanwhile, defense lawyers dispute the charge of premeditation, claiming that the event was not planned. However, the Spanish prosecution argues that the way the body was hidden indicates an organized and cold-blooded act on the part of the perpetrator.
