Carabinieri in Foggia have arrested two people suspected of involvement in the shootings that occurred on May 10 on the outskirts of the city.
According to Italian authorities, a 37-year-old Albanian and an Italian from Foggia, also 37 years old, were arrested. Both are accused of attempted murder and possession of weapons without a permit.
The incident occurred on the evening of May 10, near the Penny Market parking lot on Via San Severo, where a carabinieri patrol intervened after reports that a foreign national was receiving death threats from a known person.
As soon as they arrived in the area, the officers heard gunshots from the park on Ugo Iarussi Street and saw dozens of people, including women and children, running away in panic to escape the danger.
The Carabinieri immediately identified and arrested the two suspects, who have numerous criminal records. The Albanian citizen was caught about 40 meters from the scene, while the Italian was arrested a little later thanks to information received from passersby.
During the verification, authorities found that a man and a woman had been shot in the right and left legs, respectively. The injured received medical treatment at a local hospital.
Preliminary investigations show that the two arrested individuals had entered the parking lot armed and, after a conflict in which other people were also involved, they fired several shots, injuring two citizens.
During the search, the carabinieri seized two pistols with erased serial numbers, which are suspected of being used in the incident.
On May 14, the Preliminary Investigation Court confirmed the arrests and ordered the suspects to be remanded in custody, while the Prosecution continues its investigations to uncover the motives for the armed attack.
