The hearing begins at the Durrës Court for the imposition of security measures against the former director of the Albanian Post branch in Durrës, Elisabeta Mataj , the chief financial officer Valbona Doni and the treasurer Paola Dana , who were arrested three days ago as part of investigations into abuse of the institution's funds.
According to the Prosecution, the three officials are suspected of having embezzled 69 million new lekë during April and May 2026, which were planned to be collected for the Albanian Post branches in Shijak and Krujë, with the aim of distributing pensions and social assistance to citizens.
Their arrest was made after a complaint, while criminal proceedings have been registered against them for the offenses of "Abuse of office" and "Theft by abuse of office", committed in collaboration.
Elisabeta Mataj had been dismissed from her position as director of the Albanian Post branch in Durrës a few days before her arrest.
The hearing for the security measure is taking place at the Durrës Court. The prosecutor in the case is Gazmend Frëngu, while the judge is Xhevdet Lika.
