The 29-year-old Albanian man accused of beating to death a 58-year-old Greek driver in Neos Kosmos, Athens, has pleaded guilty.
The measure against him was imprisonment for the serious crime, for which he testified that he did not intend to kill.
During his plea, the 29-year-old insisted that the victim attacked him first, claiming that the 58-year-old did not die from his blows. The defendant allegedly stated “hypertrophic myocarditis” as the 58-year-old’s cause of death.
Among other things, the 29-year-old allegedly told investigators:
"I apologize for any involvement I had in the incident, but I did not kill anyone. There was an aggressive act towards me. He caused the situation. We had no previous history, nor did we know each other. He went to attack me ."
Despite the investigator's claims, the prosecutor and judge temporarily detained him, "Protothema" informs.
It is recalled that criminal proceedings have been initiated against the 29-year-old for the criminal offense of "intentional murder in a calm state of mind."
The arrested man had many previous convictions for minor criminal offenses, mainly assaults. During his testimony, he said that the victim had attacked him with spray paint and insulted him.
