SPAK issued an official statement this Saturday regarding the individuals charged in connection with an event where they are suspected of organizing and planning the murder of Aleksandër Prendi and his family members. The Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime announces that it has completed the investigations and has sent Aleksandër Prendi, Franko Leka, Izmir Sakicaj and Samuel Troshani to trial on charges of involvement in a structured criminal group, attempted murder and illegal possession of weapons.
According to SPAK, the plan to kill Aleksandër Prendi and his family members was not carried out because, as soon as the group entered the village of Rranxë, they were faced with an exchange of fire from Aleksandër Prendi.
The investigation shows that all those involved in the incident that occurred on August 23, 2024 in the village of Rranxë in Vau i Dejës were armed and organized, with the aim of physically eliminating the target. During the incident, there was an exchange of fire, but there were no casualties, only material damage to the vehicles.
How did the incident happen?
The incident, the subject of the proceedings, occurred on 23.8.2028, at around 17:00 in the afternoon, when the defendants, together with other persons still unidentified by the investigation, set off in three armored vehicles from the Dobraç area towards the village of Rranxë (administrative unit, Bushat, Municipality of Vau i Dejës), where the apartment of citizen Aleksandër Prendi was located. The motive is believed to be related to previous disputes.
Investigations prove that the persons involved were armed and acted in an organized manner with the aim of physically eliminating the citizen, Aleksandër Prendi. There was an exchange of fire between them, but no persons were injured in this incident, but only material damage was found to the vehicles used by the defendants.
Although it has not been possible to identify all the members of the criminal group that was at the scene, it is proven that the defendant Aleksandër Prendi shot at least two or more people, with the intention of killing them, which remained an attempt.
As a result of the exchange of fire, several armored vehicles and another used vehicle were damaged at the scene. Specifically, an armored Audi A8 with German license plates SWAG276, found at the scene in a switched off state, was damaged, as well as another Audi A8 with license plates AA021RU, owned by citizen Franko Leka, who later fled. This vehicle was seized as material evidence after an examination where gunshot damage was found.
