A serious incident has been recorded at the "Jordan Misja" Penal Execution Institution, where two employees lost their lives within hours of each other, after suffering unexpected health conditions while performing their duties. The news has been confirmed by the General Directorate of Prisons, which has expressed its condolences to their families and appreciated the contribution they made to the penitentiary system.
According to official information, the first case was registered on the evening of June 29, 2026. At around 9:36 PM, Zog Muhametaj, Information Specialist with the rank of Commissioner, suffered a serious health condition during the staff briefing for the change of service.
Colleagues who were at the scene, together with the institution's medical staff, immediately intervened by providing first aid. He was then transported by the IEVP ambulance to the Military Hospital, where he underwent medical treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical team, Muhametaj did not survive.
Just a few hours later, at around 00:00 on June 30, 2026, another employee of the same institution, Pëllumb Vrana, a Camera Technician with the rank of Chief Inspector, also suffered a serious health condition while performing his duty in the prison premises.
Even in this case, colleagues and the institution's nurse immediately provided first aid, and then he was urgently transported to the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center. According to the announcement, at around 01:00, despite the intervention of doctors, Vrana passed away.
The General Directorate of Prisons reports that Zog Muhametaj had been part of the Albanian penitentiary system since 2015, while since 2023 he had been serving in the "Jordan Misja" Penitentiary Institution. He had a military education and held the rank of Commissioner. According to the institution, he was valued for his professionalism, dedication and responsibility in carrying out his duties.
The same announcement states that Pëllumb Vrana worked as a Camera Technician and had contributed to the functioning and security of the institution. The Directorate emphasizes that he had earned the respect of his colleagues for his correctness and dedication to his work.
In its response, the General Directorate of Prisons honors the memory of the two employees and expresses gratitude for their contribution to fulfilling the duties of the penitentiary system. The institution has also expressed its condolences to the families of Zog Muhametaj and Pëllumb Vrana.

Despite the unremitting efforts of the medical team, he did not survive.
A few hours later, at around 00:00 on June 30, 2026, Pëllumb Vrana, while performing his duties on the premises of the institution, also suffered a serious health condition. He was immediately given first aid by colleagues and the institution's nurse, and was then urgently transported to the QSUT. At around 01:00, despite the efforts of the doctors, he passed away.
Zog Muhametaj had been part of the penitentiary system since 2015, while since 2023 he had been serving at the "Jordan Misja" Penitentiary Institution.
With a military education and the rank of Commissioner, he distinguished himself for his professionalism, dedication, and responsibility on duty.
Pëllumb Vrana, in his role as Camera Technician, made a valuable contribution to the functioning and security of the institution, earning the respect and appreciation of his colleagues for his accuracy and dedication to his work.
