
A serious incident occurred today in Lezha, after police opened fire on a moving vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the police have reacted to the incident, providing more details.
According to the police, the young man did not stop at the police checkpoint and the officers opened fire because they felt threatened. However, it turns out that the young man's license was revoked a short time ago and that was precisely the reason he did not stop.
The police attempt to justify the officers' behavior, even though fire was opened on an unarmed person and could have ended in tragedy.

At around 12:00, on the Lezhë-Shkodër road axis, in a place called "Gajush", the services of the Operational Unit for Road Safety and Highway Safety, assigned to service in Lezhë, signaled a vehicle to stop that was performing maneuvers that were dangerous for other road users.
The driver of the vehicle, citizen JD, 26 years old, resident of Lezha, after verifications, resulted in driving the vehicle with a driving license revoked for a previous violation. At the moment of verification of the violation and communication of the police officer to accompany the latter for other actions at the Lezha Local Police Directorate, the driver of the vehicle refused to obey the lawful orders of the police officer and with his actions to leave, posed a clearly visible risk to the life of the police officer, who, in conditions of direct, real and immediate danger and in order to prevent a more serious consequence, used his service weapon by shooting at the tire of the vehicle driven by citizen JD, making it possible to stop him, where during the search a cold weapon without a permit from the competent authorities was also found.
The incident was managed without consequences for the life or health of citizens and police officers.
The driver of the vehicle, citizen JD, and the passenger who was with him, citizen ES, 20 years old, both residents of Lezha, were escorted to the premises of the Lezha Police Commissariat, where the necessary investigative actions are being carried out against the driver for the criminal offenses of "Irregular driving", "Opposing a public order police officer", as well as "Unlicensed production, possession, purchase or sale of cold weapons", provided for by articles 291, 236 and 279 of the Criminal Code.
A special investigative group from the responsible structures of the State Police and the Police Supervision Agency, led by the Prosecutor's Office at the Lezha Court of General Jurisdiction, is carrying out all investigative actions to clarify the circumstances of the incident, as well as the conditions of the use of a firearm by the Police officer to neutralize the driver of the vehicle.
