
Tepelena Police have cracked down on another case of narcotic plant cultivation, as part of the implementation of the "Coordination" operational plan, which aims to prevent and detect this illegal activity.
During intensive checks of the territory, also with the help of drones, police forces discovered a plot of 194 suspected narcotic plants of the Cannabis Sativa variety, planted near a house in the village of Mezhgoran.
In connection with this case, citizens MC, 64 years old, and EC, 35 years old, father and son, were arrested in flagrante delicto, suspected of cultivating narcotic plants.
A small portion of the plants was seized from the scene as material evidence, while the rest was destroyed by burning.
The procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Gjirokastra for further action.
The police announce that controls in the territory will continue with intensity to prevent and crack down on any attempt to cultivate narcotics.
