25 automatic rifle cartridges, all fired from the same weapon, were found and seized at the scene where Aleksandër Koçeku was killed in the village of Lin, in the Karma e Kir area, along the Kir–Prekal road. It was a random passerby who noticed the vehicle in which the victim was and immediately notified the authorities.
Preliminary investigations by the investigation team suspect that the perpetrator or perpetrators ambushed the 40-year-old man and shot him with automatic weapons. It is learned that the victim was moving cautiously due to fear of possible retaliation and worked in a bakery.
Investigators have begun obtaining and managing footage from security cameras along the route that Aleksandër Koçeku traveled, although there are no cameras in the area where the assassination took place, a fact that makes it more difficult to unravel the incident.
According to sources close to the investigative group, the main lead on which the investigations are focusing is related to a previous criminal event, specifically the murder of Angjelin Shkambi in December 2017.
At that time, today's victim's brother, Artan Koçeku, allegedly shot Shkambi with 10 bullets, after he had previously called him to a meeting.
According to the investigative file from that period, the conflict between them was related to a debt of 40 thousand euros, but also to a matter of honor, as the victim had had an affair with the Koçeku brothers' sister. For this incident, Artan Koçeku is serving a prison sentence.
Aleksandër Koçek's family members have stated that they suspect that his execution may have been carried out for revenge motives, linking the incident to the murder that occurred in 2017.
The victim's cousin, Mark Koçeku, stated that their family has been in a blood feud since the murder of Angjelin Shkambi and that Aleksandër Koçeku was cautious in his movements due to fear of an act of revenge.
Meanwhile, Aleksandër Koçeku was also a person under investigation in the case of the murder of Pavlin Preka, an event that occurred last year. The Shkodra Prosecutor's Office, a few days ago, extended the investigation deadlines for this case by three months.
According to the prosecution, Koçek is suspected of having been involved, together with Vasel Koçek and Klaudio Lisaj, in the organization and execution of the murder of 19-year-old Pavlin Preka in February 2025. According to the investigation, the motive was related to the claim that Preka was planning to kidnap Vasel Koçek's daughter in order to get engaged to him, even though she did not agree.
The Police and the Prosecution continue their investigative work to fully uncover the incident, identify and arrest the perpetrator or perpetrators suspected of the murder of Aleksandër Koçek.
