Francesco Ajdini, 18 years old, of Albanian origin and resident of Praticello di Gattatico (Reggio Emilia), lost his life yesterday afternoon at around 4:00 PM in a serious road accident on Via Marconi, near the Sorbolo train station, along Provincial Road 62.
According to the initial reconstruction, the young man was riding a 125cc scooter towards Reggio when a Fiat, driven by a man turning left near the former Tigotà supermarket, crashed into him. Francesco, who was wearing a helmet, ended up on the asphalt with very serious injuries.
Parma Public Assistance teams, Red Cross volunteers and a rescue helicopter arrived immediately, but despite attempts to revive him with CPR, the 18-year-old did not survive his injuries.
Francesco turned 18 on August 18 and lived with his parents and older sister in Gattatico, where the Ajdini family has been part of the community for years. The mayor of Gattatico, Daniele Finucci, who knows them personally, described the family as “honest and with sound principles.”
" I am deeply saddened and express my condolences on behalf of the entire municipality," he said.
Even Francesco's father's employer, Flamur Ajdini (a gardener at the AB Global Service company in Collecchio), described him as a "good man" and expressed the great shock of the entire staff.
Unfortunately, this is not the first tragedy for the Ajdini family: in 2004, in another road accident, Sara, Francesco's two-year-old sister, lost her life.
