The Police and Prosecutor's Office of Saranda have prevented the funeral ceremony of the family of a 40-year-old man, who lost his life under unclear circumstances. He was found dead in his apartment yesterday, just 4 days after returning from Greece.
The funeral service notified by the family in Saranda had gone for the mortuary services, but law enforcement agencies intervened, because the family of the deceased Gerti Kallojeri did not have a medical report on the death. For this purpose, the body was requested to be sent to Tirana for forensic examination.
According to police sources, the 40-year-old had been in Greece for about four days, where he had been working for years. His mother found her son dead in their home in Ksamil on Saturday afternoon.
The family did not notify the hospital or the police of the accident, so that the necessary procedures could be carried out to determine the cause of death, but instead requested the funeral service. The latter had gone to make all preparations for the burial, without requesting any medical report to allow the 40-year-old man to be buried.
Informed, under these conditions, the Saranda Prosecutor's Office and the Police, who went to the apartment to closely follow the case, after conducting investigations, prevented the burial of the 40-year-old man and, following the order issued by them, the body was transported by ambulance to the Forensic Medicine in Tirana for expertise.
When questioned by investigation specialists, funeral service representatives are reported to have stated: "The family members informed us that we have taken legal action. However, they have not seen any report that would allow his burial."
It is also learned that there were no claims from the family either. The incident is under investigation, both to determine the circumstances and causes of Kallojer's death, as well as the concealment of the incident from the family.
