A wave of violence has swept across Mexico in response to the killing by military forces of the leader of the CJNG cartel, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes (El Mencho), who was killed during an arrest.
El Mencho's cartel had the largest control of drug trafficking such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin, with destinations in the US, Spain, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada and Latin America. The annual profits of the CJNG, led by El Mencho, were estimated at 20 billion USD.
The cartel had an estimated 20,000 members and 10,000 associates. The organization and hierarchy functioned as a parallel state in several Mexican cities, including their own police and army, as well as a system of fines, taxes, and street rules. Cartels have parallel rules and laws.
In the city of Jalisco, where four World Cup matches are scheduled, gang members blocked more than 20 roads, burning cars and gas stations. All schools, shops and pharmacies were closed, and no one dared to move because of hundreds of armed bandits.
So what is the difference between drug cartels and Albanian traffickers?
Albania has drug trafficking groups, like every country in the world, but not cartels. It is enough to watch the Sky ECC or EncroChat intercepts to understand that Albanian criminals are not organized and structured like mafia families or cartels.
Albanian drug traffickers are so amateurish and disorganized that 300 people were arrested with just three phone calls. They are so disorganized that anyone knows them by voice, face, or address. They have no local government system, no taxes, fines, or other rules.
Albanian traffickers often expose themselves, posting meetings with officials or luxury shows on social media.

Comparing Albanian criminal groups to drug cartels in Latin America shows either a serious prejudice or a lack of legal knowledge.
