Diesel should not be sold for more than 203 lek and gasoline no more than 175 lek/liter.
After a few days, the government has decided to intervene in fuel prices. The Transparency Board has decided today that the retail price of diesel should not exceed 203 lekë/liter and gasoline should not exceed 175 lekë/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, March 26, at 6:30 pm and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected. We emphasize that the reason for the high price is the excise tax, which as announced has been reduced by 20%. The government could temporarily completely lift this tax, which would give a stronger impact of 40 lek per liter.
The Board has drawn the attention of operators involved in the wholesale and retail trade of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision. In case of violations, the authorities warn of suspension of activity for the relevant entities.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, declare that they remain committed to protecting consumer interests and maintaining fair competition in the market.

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 203 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 191 lek/liter.
The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 175 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 163 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, March 26th at 6:30 pm and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.
In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.
"The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market," the announcement states.
