The implementation of the pension agreement with Italy will begin in June of this year. Albania and Italy have recently signed the administrative agreement that paves the way for its implementation and concrete pension benefits for Albanian and Italian citizens, starting in June of this year.
This agreement was signed in Rome, Italy by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Olta Manjani, and the Minister of Labor and Social Policies in Italy, Marina Calderone.
The agreement on the recognition of contribution periods between Albania and Italy gives Albanian immigrants the opportunity to be treated with a pension in Italy and Albania at the same time.
The agreement between the two countries on the recognition of social security contributions was signed on February 6, 2024.
There are about 500 thousand Albanian citizens and about 4 thousand Italian citizens who will be beneficiaries of pensions in Italy and Albania, which will ensure the unification of contributory periods, making it possible for no working year to be lost.
