The Transparency Board has decided to reduce fuel prices in the country, reflecting recent changes in international markets.

According to the decision taken at today's meeting, dated June 16, 2026, the maximum retail price of diesel has been set at 180 lek per liter, marking a decrease of 3 lek compared to the previous decision.

Meanwhile, gasoline will be traded at a maximum price of 168 lek per liter, or 2 lek less than the level set at the last Board meeting.

The new prices have come into effect as of 2:00 PM today and will remain in effect until the next decision of the Transparency Board.

The Transparency Board on June 16, 2026, at its next meeting, decided:

The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard shall be no more than 180 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall be no more than 168 lek/liter.

The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 168 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 156 lek/liter.

The prices set by the Board will come into effect today, the 16th, at 2:00 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.

We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision.

In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026 and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.

Gasoline for fishing - the selling price of gasoline for fishing, referred to Law 9975, dated 28.07.2008 "On National Taxes", in Article 9 "Exemptions from the payment of national taxes", point 6 provides: "Fishing vessels are exempt from the payment of turnover tax and carbon tax".

Also, referring to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, the exemption from excise duties of fuel for fishing vessels is foreseen, in the quantities, conditions and criteria determined in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology determined in the normative act, the selling price of diesel for fishing results in 84 lek.
