Over 500 businesses in the Municipality of Korça, city and villages, have closed in the last two years. Despite being one of the most popular cities for domestic and foreign visitors, businesses seem unable to survive.
The figures are also known to the Small and Medium Business Association, whose president gives some of the causes that, according to him, influence this reality. Albert Nasto says: "The main cause is also the increase in local taxes. These taxes have become unaffordable for businesses. These were businesses that had been operating in the market for years."
For the opposition municipal councilor in the Municipality of Korça, among other things, this situation is also influenced by clientelism and the abusive favoritism of some businesses over others.
Meanwhile, off-camera, representatives of service businesses in Korça say that a decline in domestic visitors to Korça has been noticed, while foreigners are increasing, but it seems that they do not spend as much as locals./ A2CNN
