After the defeat in the elections of May 14, 2025, pressure began against Sali Berisha from voices within the DP and from a part of society that demanded a rotation of power, asking him to step down from the party leadership, with three arguments:

2. The sanctioning of Sali Berisha with a "Non grata" measure by the US and the UK is a major obstacle to the return of the DP to power.
3. For 13 years in the opposition, Sali Berisha, as a "burnt card" in the eyes of Albanians and as a bargaining chip for his interests with Prime Minister Edi Rama, is serving as a guarantee for his stay in power.
Sali Berisha's response: "I am on a mission at the head of the DP, I will not leave until I have breath"
To these voices that convey reality and demand his departure from the leadership of the DP, Sali Berisha responded: "I will not leave the leadership of the party until I have breath, because I came and I am at its head with a mission."
He has told the truth, that during his 35 years at the head of the DP, Sali Berisha has proven through actions that he was and is truly on a mission entrusted by the former dictatorship's dome, at the head of the right, to destroy and hold it hostage, and he has successfully carried out this mission.
He joined the December Movement, instructed by Ramiz Alia and the family of dictator Enver Hoxha, as an alleged "anti-communist and supportive friend" of students, persecuted people, and idealistic intellectuals.
But after 1 month, in implementation of the "Katovica" platform, Sali Berisha hijacked the DP, violently expelled and intrigued all the founders, the true anti-communist democrats, the persecuted, the intellectuals and idealists.
He filled the party and government structures with family members of the Blocmen, extremist communists, investigators and spies of the former dictatorship, and has ruled the DP for 36 years, leading to complete degradation and no hope of returning to power.

After the success of the bargain on April 21, 2008 to block direct voting and the appointment of deputies through lists, Sali Berisha continued the bargain with Edi Rama after falling from power.
