The Vetting Commission expelled prosecutor Dritan Marku because he could not justify the purchase of an apartment in Tirana and one in Vlora. While his brother, judge Gentian Marku, expelled from Italy for theft of businesses and motor vehicles, fraud during his years of study (2001-2002 in Italy, not in Shkodra) and 3 fictitious sales and purchases of the same apartment in Lezha, was removed from office by the same commission. Now the Supreme Court of Justice has the obligation to reinstate him in the process...
Double-standard vetting in justice is proven by the decisions against two brothers: Dritan Marku, a prosecutor in Vlora, and Gentian Marku, a judge at the Tirana Administrative Court.
Prosecutor Dritan Marku was dismissed and excluded for 15 years from the justice system, by Decision No. 411, dated July 5, 2021 of the First Instance Vetting Commission, left in force on February 4, 2025 by the Appeals Commission.
His dismissal was due to his failure to justify the purchase values of 1 apartment in Vlora and 1 in Tirana; for which he stated that the sources were salary savings, loans, donations from his and his wife's family, property sales and depreciation by builders, but without presenting convincing documents.
One of the other pieces of evidence for his dismissal was the lack of purchase of land from his parents Luigj and Dilë Marku and from his brother, judge Gentian Marku, in Blinisht, Lezha, and their sale, but the documents of financial transactions for the land did not convince the vetting commission.
While his brother Gentian Marku, a judge at the Administrative Court of First Instance in Tirana, referring to the vetting file, has more evidence of the unjustification of millions from emigration, fraud with the financial values of the purchase of land by his parents, and 3 times the sale and purchase of the same apartment in Lezha.
Judge Gentian Marku stated that on August 7, 1999, when he was 19 years old, he went to Italy by dinghy, but he hid the fact that after 3 years there, law enforcement authorities in the Bra area of the Cuneo-Torino Province returned him to Albania for involvement in theft of businesses and motor vehicles, an expulsion which he did not declare in the Decriminalization Form.

In his education file, Judge Gentian Marku states that on July 15, 2005, he completed his 4-year full-time studies and graduated as a "Lawyer" at the "Luigj Gurakuqi" University of Shkodra.
But in 2001-2002, when he states that he was in his first year of full-time university studies in Shkodra, it turns out that he was an immigrant in Italy and was returned to Albania on October 20, 2002, when he was expelled from there for involvement in crimes.
Judge Gentian Marku stated that in the years 2012-2015 he completed the Magistrate's School, but did not state what activities he engaged in during the 7 years after graduating "Lawyer" at the "Luigj Gurakuqi" University of Shkodra, a period in which there is evidence that he was involved in criminal activities in the Lezhë-Laç area.
He stated that parents Luigj and Dilë Marku sold him 3 plots of land in Blinisht, Lezha, with an area of 1896 m², 4275 m² and 7783 m² worth 3.5 million lekë; which he did not declare in 2014 when he began his duties as a trainee judge in Lezha, but in 2022, after revealing it to the vetting, as well as 1 apartment in Lezha, fictitiously sold and repurchased 3 times with a family member of his.
But the Vetting Commission did not exclude Judge Gentian Marku from the justice system, although it discovered all this evidence: deportation from Italy for theft, fraud with the unjustified source of land and apartment purchases, fraud with the years of university studies for "Lawyer" and failure to declare activity in the years 2005-2012.
While his brother Dritan Marku, a prosecutor in Vlora, was banned from the judiciary for 15 years by the vetting commission, even though he had much less evidence than his brother, judge Gentian Marku.
Now that the vetting process will be transferred to the competence of the High Judicial Council, it is the obligation of this council to reinstate the judge of the Administrative Court of First Instance of Tirana, Gentian Luigj Marku, in the vetting process.
Also due to the fact that during the 4 years and 4 months after the first vetting in January 2022, Judge Gentian Marku has tampered with judicial decisions, profiting from illegal wealth and creating connections with figures from the underworld./ Pamphlet
