Russia has unveiled a new nuclear weapon that is being described as the most fearsome ever built by Moscow.
The weapon is called "Poseidon," a nuclear-powered, nuclear-charged super-torpedo capable, at least in theory, of submerging the American coast in radioactive waters.
According to Western sources, "Poseidon" is designed to operate at great depths, in order to avoid naval defense systems and cause tsunamis of catastrophic proportions.
The report states that such an explosion near the US coast could submerge entire cities, including Manhattan, under contaminated waters.
The publication of these details has raised alarm in Washington, and according to the Daily Mail, recent developments have forced President Donald Trump to consider the "unimaginable" regarding the US nuclear balance and strategic defense.
Russia, meanwhile, has presented the project as a "weapon of strategic deterrence," but the West sees it as a serious threat to global security.
