French President Emmanuel Macron has reacted to the theft of precious jewels from the Louvre Museum in Paris. He described the act as an attack on heritage, as those jewels are the history of France.
"The theft committed at the Louvre is an attack on a heritage that is dear to us because it is our history," Macron wrote in a post.
The French president declared that the works of art would be taken back, and even emphasized that the authors would receive the deserved punishment in court.
"We will recover the works and the perpetrators will be brought to justice, and everything is being done, everywhere, to achieve this, under the direction of the Paris prosecutor's office," Macron declared.
The New Louvre Renaissance Project, referring to his plan to renovate the museum, includes increased security.
