A story of hope has emerged from the ruins left behind by the two devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
Search and rescue teams, which continue operations in the city of La Guaira, pulled out an 18-day-old baby alive, amid applause and emotions from people who anxiously followed the rescue efforts.
The baby's father waited anxiously near the surgery site until he was finally able to hold the little one in his arms.
According to the AFP agency, the baby's mother was rescued alive from the rubble a little later.
Search and rescue operations continue in the affected areas, as authorities try to find thousands of people who are still missing.
According to the latest tally, at least 920 people have lost their lives, 3,360 others have been injured, while over 39,000 people are still missing across the country.
