The situation between Hamas and Israel remains fragile despite the ceasefire agreement, as the 20-point peace plan, which constitutes the next phase, brought a new reaction from US President Donald Trump yesterday.

The latter far from excluding the possibility of undertaking new military actions in the future, with the aim of fulfilling Hamas' commitments, given that the exchange of dead hostages, as well as attacks on militias, have raised serious concerns regarding the consolidation of peace and the ceasefire in the region.

Although Hamas announced yesterday that it had handed over all the bodies of the hostages it had access to, Israel informed the UN that the expected number of aid trucks to be allowed into Gaza could be delayed or delayed due to Hamas' slow release of the hostages' remains. At the same time, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz called on the military to draw up a plan for defeating Hamas in the event that the war in Gaza resumes.

The Israel Defense Forces plan will outline actions to be taken if Hamas refuses to implement President Trump's peace deal for Gaza and "it becomes necessary to resume fighting," according to a statement from the Israeli Defense Ministry.

It is worth noting that according to the ceasefire agreement, all hostages, both living and dead, were to be returned by Hamas within 72 hours. In practice, however, only a third, namely 28 dead hostages, were handed over. This delay prompted the intervention of the US President, who tried to put pressure on the organization, leaving the window open for new military operations.

Specifically, speaking on CNN, US President Donald Trump stated that he would consider allowing Israeli forces to resume fighting in Gaza if Hamas does not fulfill its commitments under the agreed ceasefire. Israeli forces could return "as soon as I give the order," he said.

"Israel will be back on these roads as soon as I say so. 'If Israel could go in and hit them, they would,'" Trump said in a brief phone call, when asked what would happen if Hamas refused to disarm. "If Israel could go in and crush them, they would," the US president noted, along the same lines.

While acknowledging that Hamas has yet to return most of the bodies of the 28 hostages held in Gaza before the deal was reached, he says: “The release of those 20 (alive) hostages was of great importance.”

Commenting on the execution of individuals suspected of collaborating with Israel by Hamas people, "what is happening with Hamas will be resolved quickly," the US President stressed, adding that Hamas "is going in and cleaning up gangs, violent gangs."

When asked if those targeted by Hamas were innocent civilians, the American replied that "I'm investigating... We'll find out. It could be gangs and other things."

Regarding his efforts to convince Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire in Gaza, "I had to hold them back... I discussed it with Bibi," said Trump, who appeared optimistic about the long-term prospects for peace, especially given the strong support of other countries in the region.

Sustainable peace

As President Trump explained, “fifty-nine countries are involved in this,” referring to the ceasefire agreement and in particular those countries that attended the ceremony in Egypt to sign the “Trump Peace Agreement” or made statements of support. “We’ve never seen anything like this before. Now all this is happening. They want to participate in the Abraham Accords. Now that Iran is not a problem.”

Against the backdrop of developments in the Middle East, "I'm working hard on the Russia issue," President Trump emphasized and continued, saying that "one has been going on for three years, the other for three thousand," comparing the achievement of peace between Hamas and Israel in relation to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
