A tragic event shook Konica, Greece on Sunday morning, where four members of the same family lost their lives as a result of a powerful fire.
The flames broke out shortly before 07:00, while firefighters who intervened to extinguish the fire found four people dead, one man and three women.
According to Greek media, the victims were four siblings, aged 69, 75, 83 and 88. They lived in a container that had been made available to them about 30 years ago, after the major earthquake that hit the Konica area.
The container was placed on their property, near the Konica Bridge. Neighbors have stated that the elderly people lived in difficult conditions, without electricity and with occasional health problems.
Authorities are investigating the causes of the fire, with one of the leads being examined being the possibility that the flames were caused by a candle or oil lamp used for lighting.
According to local media reports, social services had previously intervened to clean the premises where the family lived.
Ten firefighters with five vehicles participated in the firefighting operation, while Fire Department investigators continue to work to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
