Australian authorities are investigating an unusual criminal event after the suspected perpetrators of a murder in Sydney released a drone video online, which allegedly shows the moment of the execution.

The victim, Jack Cheung, 35 , was shot dead outside his apartment in the Carlingford area, in Sydney's northwest, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, his body was found in the yard of the house around 5:30 a.m., and was discovered about 90 minutes later by workers who had gone to carry out work in the apartment.

A few hours after the incident, New South Wales (NSW) Police appealed to citizens to submit footage from security cameras and vehicle cameras to assist in the investigation.

However, according to Australian media, an aerial video was released on a social media platform overnight, allegedly showing the gunman approaching the victim and shooting him.

The video was accompanied by a message that read: "Hello, this is the Albanian mafia; we have footage of Mr. Cheung's execution by gangs today in Carlingford."

There is no official confirmation that the message or the claim about the identity of the authors is authentic.

Australian police described the release of the footage as a deeply disturbing development. "It's disturbing," said Assistant Commissioner of Police Scott Cook.  "It's a new era in organised crime,"  he added.

Investigations to identify the perpetrators of the murder and the people who published the video continue.
