The Hamas leader rejected US and Israeli demands, publicly declaring that the organization will not hand over its weapons and will not allow external interference in the administration of Gaza.
During a conference held in Doha, Khaled Mashaal declared that Hamas will not change its position in the face of pressure exerted by the United States and Israel. According to him, the demands for Hamas's disarmament and the criminalization of its activities constitute a red line that the organization does not accept.
"The criminalization of the resistance, its weapons and those who carry it out is something we cannot accept," he said, presenting armed resistance as an inseparable element of Hamas' identity and strategy.
In his speech, Mashaal addressed the Peace Board directly, calling for the adoption of a “balanced approach” towards Gaza.
He stressed that the reconstruction of the territory and the allowing of humanitarian aid should not be conditioned on the renunciation of weapons or the imposition of a foreign administration.
According to Mashaal, any attempt to establish foreign governing structures in Gaza would constitute an unacceptable form of rule.
"Hamas will not accept foreign rule," he declared, signaling that the organization will oppose any scenario that envisages political or military intervention from abroad.
