Israel's inhumane behavior towards activists...
Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, released a shocking video in which he appears mocking Gaza flotilla activists, who were stopped at sea and taken to the port of Ashdod.
In the footage, dozens of international activists are seen kneeling on the ground, their hands tied. The video begins with one of them shouting "Free Palestine" before police officers drag him away from the minister during his visit to the facility.
Ben-Gvir is shown raising a large Israeli flag and saying in Hebrew: "Welcome to Israel, we are the masters here." He also addresses Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "I say to the Prime Minister: hand them over to us for a long time, to put them in terrorist prisons."
In another part of the video, activists are seen on the deck of a ship as the Israeli national anthem is played. In other footage, the minister argues with a man and comments "this is how it should be done," as another person is seen tied up.

The activists are being held in the port of Ashdod, after the Israeli Foreign Ministry announced that the mission of the latest flotilla, which aimed to break the naval blockade of Gaza, has "ended" and the participants have been transferred to Israel.
On board were over 400 activists from 45 countries, including the sister of the Irish president, Catherine Connolly. Israel has described the flotilla's mission as a "propaganda operation in support of Hamas."
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar sharply criticized Ben-Gvir for publishing the footage. "You have knowingly caused harm to the country with this shameful behavior, and not for the first time. You are not the face of Israel," Saar said.
He also mentioned the international consequences of the publication, saying that Ben-Gvir had damaged the “great, professional and successful efforts” of many people, from IDF soldiers to Foreign Ministry employees and others.
The Italian government reacted
immediately after the video was released. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani called the treatment of the activists "unacceptable" and accused Israel of ignoring Rome's official requests.
The Italian Foreign Ministry announced that it has summoned the Israeli ambassador to request "formal clarifications" on the incident.
Tajani stated that the "5 Star" movement deputy, Dario Carotenuto, and the journalist Alessandro Mantovani are expected to return to Italy by the evening.
Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto also harshly criticized Ben-Gviri. "We pride ourselves on the fact that we have always treated Israeli citizens with respect and we are not in the habit of arresting people in international waters, but rather helping them when they need it," he declared.
Political clash in Italy
The images have also caused strong reactions in Italian politics. The Secretary of the Democratic Party, Elly Schlein, called them "shocking images" and spoke of "crimes against human dignity", while demanding sanctions against the Netanyahu government and extremist ministers.
The 5-Star Movement condemned “humiliating treatment” of activists, while Angelo Bonelli compared the Israeli government to “pirates.” Azione leader Carlo Calenda called for “very harsh sanctions” against Ben-Gviri.
The Italian majority took a more cautious tone. The vice president of the Senate, Licia Ronzulli, declared that "the Palestinians are not helped by such operations," but called for protection for the Italian citizens involved.
