Tensions in the Middle East are escalating again, as clashes between Iran, the United States and other regional actors risk spreading the conflict to strategic corridors for international trade.

In this fragile situation, attention has focused on the Bab al-Mandab Strait, one of the most important sea routes in the world, where any threat of blockage could have major consequences for the global economy.

Bab al-Mandab, also known as the “Gate of Tears,” connects the Red Sea with the Arabian Sea and is considered a key point for international transport of goods and energy. Its name is associated with the difficult navigation conditions and the strategic importance it has acquired over the centuries.

The area is directly affected by the activity of the Houthi rebels in Yemen, a group backed by Tehran and equipped with long-range missiles. In recent months, the Houthis have attacked dozens of ships passing through the Red Sea, claiming their actions are in response to Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the European Union has called on Israel to stop military escalation in Lebanon and respect the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity, underlining the need for continued diplomatic efforts aimed at regional stability.

Hezbollah, on the other hand, has warned that it will not stop its attacks on northern Israel. A source close to the organization stated that the group is not considering ceasing operations as long as the Israeli bombing of Lebanon continues.

The situation was further tense after reports that a hospital in the southern Lebanese city of Tyre suffered extensive damage and injuries in an Israeli attack. The news was confirmed by Lebanon's national news agency and the country's Health Ministry.

Earlier, the Israeli army had issued evacuation orders for several neighborhoods south of Beirut, signaling the possibility of new military operations.

With conflicts escalating on several fronts simultaneously, analysts warn that any escalation in the Bab al-Mandab area could directly affect the flow of goods, energy supplies, and global economic stability.
