Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has confirmed the expansion of Israel's ground operations in southern Lebanon, stating that the military is aiming to take control of "strategic areas."
In a post on social media, Netanyahu announced that military operations are intensifying, while also releasing a video of his speech at a security cabinet meeting. "We are intensifying our operations in Lebanon," Netanyahu declared.
In the released video, the Israeli prime minister said that the army is operating with "large forces on the ground," emphasizing that the objective is to control areas that are considered strategic.
Earlier, an Israeli military official confirmed that Israeli forces have expanded operations beyond areas they previously controlled in Lebanon.
The developments come even as a ceasefire between the sides remains officially in effect. Israel claims the military actions are aimed at neutralizing threats from the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia.
