The Iranian armed forces declared that they have full control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz and warned that they would intervene against any attempt to impede its management or freedom of navigation in the area.
In a statement published by the Tasnim agency, close to the Revolutionary Guard (Pasdaran), the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters stressed that all commercial ships, tankers and other naval vessels must only pass through designated corridors and obtain authorization from the Iranian Navy.
Iranian authorities underlined that the Strait of Hormuz is administered by the Islamic Republic "with full authority," describing it as an area under the direct supervision of Iranian forces.
"Any action by military vessels aimed at interfering in the management of the Strait of Hormuz or obstructing maritime traffic will be met with a response from the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the statement said.
The warning comes at a time of high tensions in the region, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the most important maritime routes for global oil and gas transport.
