Russian drone incident in Romania, NATO: We will defend every inch of allied

NATO is intensifying measures to strengthen its eastern flank in Europe following the recent incident in Romania, where a drone attributed to Russia crashed into the roof of a residential building, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, chairman of NATO's Military Committee, announced.

In an interview with Al Arabiya television, Dragone said that the alliance has already initiated concrete actions to increase security in the east of its territory.

"NATO is already taking action, reinforcing the eastern flank. We are taking action there," he declared, when asked about the alliance's plans regarding the deployment of additional troops and the commitment to protect any part of the territory of member countries in the event of similar incidents.

According to him, NATO aims to create what he described as a secure authority, with the aim of making the entire region from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea interconnected and more protected. However, the Italian admiral did not provide further details on the composition of this structure or the forces that would be involved.

The incident that prompted the alliance's response occurred on May 29, when Romania's Defense Ministry announced that a drone had crashed onto the roof of a building in the city of Galati. Romanian authorities have accused Russia of being responsible for the incident.
