After several days of extremely high temperatures, Milan is experiencing a change in weather conditions. During the morning hours, temperatures in the city were around 30-31 degrees Celsius, with partly cloudy skies and high humidity, but lower compared to recent days.

According to Italian media reports, for Wednesday afternoon, meteorological authorities have declared an orange alert for the entire Lombardy region due to storms, which may be associated with hydraulic and hydro-geological risks. Shortly before 3 p.m., strong winds also began to blow in Milan.

Forecasts indicate that atmospheric instability will increase during the evening. Rainfall and storms may be accompanied by strong winds and hail, as a result of the penetration of cooler air masses at altitude, after the long period dominated by the African anticyclone.

As a preventive measure, the Municipality of Milan has decided to close all public parks throughout the day. Citizens have been urged to avoid areas with trees and green spaces until the end of the alert.

The decision is related to the risk of a meteorological phenomenon known as a downburst, a very powerful stream of air that descends from storms and can cause trees, branches and light structures to fall within minutes. A similar situation was recorded during Monday evening's storm.

Local authorities advise citizens to limit movement during the passage of storms, secure objects on balconies and terraces, and follow Civil Protection announcements and official channels until the alert ends.

The bad weather has also affected other parts of Lombardy. The storms are developing initially in the Alpine and pre-Alpine areas, then moving towards the high plains and, occasionally, also in the central and eastern parts of the region. The provinces most affected are expected to be Varese, Como, Lecco, Bergamo, Brescia and Sondrio, where intense rainfall, frequent electrical activity, strong winds and local hail are expected.

Even in the plains, including the metropolitan region of Milan, the possibility of storms cannot be ruled out, although they are expected to be more scattered and of shorter duration. According to meteorologists, the contrast between the very hot air accumulated in recent days and the entry of cooler air at altitude is the main cause of the weather instability.

Forecasts indicate that the situation will improve rapidly during the evening hours. Storms are expected to move southeast, while clearing will begin from the west. Northerly winds will also bring a significant drop in temperatures and cooler conditions compared to recent days.
