A serious incident occurred today in Greece, where two 17-year-old girls jumped from the terrace of a 6-story building in the Ilioupoli area of Athens.
One of them lost her life on the spot, while the other is in critical condition at the "Asklipieio" hospital in Vula, where doctors are fighting to keep her alive.
According to Greek media, the bag of one of the girls was found on the terrace of the palace, inside which was a letter explaining the reasons that led her to the tragic act.
Police sources indicate that the other girl is also suspected of having jumped off the cliff with her friend, however, no note from her has been found so far.
It is learned that one of the teenagers lived in the building where the incident occurred. The two girls climbed onto the terrace together, while the door was found locked. Investigators suspect that they locked the door themselves before committing the extreme act.
A businessman, who was near the scene, described the dramatic moments he experienced.
"I heard screams and then a very loud noise. I turned my head and saw the two girls. I immediately called the ambulance and the police. The ambulance arrived very quickly, but until it arrived, I stood next to the girl who was still breathing and talked to her, trying to give her strength so that she wouldn't lose consciousness.
"Then a lady came down from the first floor, approached one of the girls and saw that she was breathing. A little later, a young man came, who said he was her brother ," he declared.
According to residents' testimonies, shortly before the incident, the two 17-year-olds had asked the building administrator for the keys to the terrace.
"My friend said, 'They're where we always put the keys.' She didn't even manage to take five steps and heard a loud noise, the girls had jumped off the terrace. How could she think why they wanted the keys? No one could have predicted this tragic event," the witness said.
