Since the early hours of Saturday morning, a massive fire has engulfed Mount Dukat, creating a dangerous situation that is being exacerbated by strong winds. The flames have advanced significantly and risk spreading towards the Llogara National Park.
Despite intensive efforts by firefighters and armed forces, the difficult mountainous terrain has made effective intervention with vehicles impossible. Work has been underway throughout the day to isolate the fire front and prevent the flames from spreading to protected natural areas.
With darkness falling, the extinguishing operation has been suspended for safety reasons and will resume in the early hours of the morning. Authorities announce that air intervention is expected to bring the situation, which remains critical, under control.
