Journalist Klodiana Lala has recounted for the first time her conversation with Jan Prenga's children, who hoped that one day their father would return.
Lala said she has often visited Prenga's family and met his daughter and son. She says the children often looked out the door in the hope of meeting their missing father.
Lala added that Jan Prenga's incident is related to his brother's actions and stressed the importance of returning his body to give the family an opportunity to hold a funeral. The journalist appealed for justice and the return of the body, for emotional relief for the family.
"This may be a rare case, when 2 special prosecutors clash with each other over pretense. The Albanian state must closely follow the issue of the disappearance of Jan Prenga, return his body to his family, so that he has a grave to rest in. I have often visited Jan Prenga's family before his wife and children fled in the hope of gaining political asylum in one of the EU countries, to understand how their lives were destroyed.
They have great hope that perhaps one day, Jani Prenga's dead body will be returned to the family. The girl is 22 years old, she told me she wants to study criminology and the boy is a minor, who often looked out the door, hoping that their father would return. Some heartless criminals kidnapped him, killed him. Some of them are facing justice, it is Dritan Rexhepi, Gentjan Doçi, Altin Hajri. I published the images of Jan Prenga's dead body in Altin Hajri's complex, to show that there was a dead body, because the group claimed innocence, saying that there is no dead body. I apologized to the family for the images.
Festim Bezhdili was sentenced to life imprisonment, the Appeals Court decision was returned for a retrial and in the retrial there was new evidence such as the conversations on Sky Ecc. The prosecutor says that Festim Bezhdili is a member of the criminal group that he actively assisted in a serious crime, while the other prosecutor, Behar Dibra, said that the criminal offense should be reclassified and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The court must now impose justice on the incident.
"If Jan Prenga's body is returned to the family, it would be a relief for me too. When I was at Jan Prenga's house, I saw that there was no kitchen there. Jan's son, when I hugged him, did not look me in the eye, he said "I love my dad". They were a simple family. Jan Prenga suffered only because his brother had taken a quantity of cocaine in Great Britain. If his brother did this, he should be held responsible, but a person cannot be taken in such a criminal manner, it is very serious", Lala told "News 24".
