The month of May is ending with high temperatures that have engulfed the entire country, increasing the risk of fires in forests and vegetation areas.

The Institute of Geosciences (IGJEO) announced that during this afternoon and tomorrow a "moderate" risk level for fires is expected in the counties of Lezhë, Durrës and Fier. A "low" risk level is expected in the counties of Shkodër, Tirana, Elbasan and Berat, while no risk is predicted in the other counties.

According to IGJEO, in some localized areas "moderate" risk is also expected in southwest Shkodra, east of Tirana, west of Elbasan and northwest of Berat. The institute emphasizes that the risk is expected to be higher during Friday.

Regarding weather conditions, light local rainfall is expected this afternoon, while no rainfall is expected in any region of the country tomorrow.

Temperatures for tomorrow are expected to reach up to 32°C on the coast, 33°C in low-lying areas and 24°C in mountainous areas.

"This afternoon (Thursday, 28th) and tomorrow (Friday, 29th) a "MODERATE" risk level is expected in the Lezhë, Durrës and Fier regions, while a "LOW" risk level is expected in the Shkodër, Tirana, Elbasan and Berat regions. A "No risk" level is expected in the other regions."

"In some regions, a "MODERATE" risk is expected only in localized areas, specifically: Shkodër region (South-West), Tirana region (East), Elbasan region (West) and Berat region (North-West). The risk is expected to be higher during the next day," the announcement states.
