"She had no political talent", Ilir Kulla tells how Federica Mogherini

Security expert Ilir Kulla has shown how Federica Mogherini rose in Italian politics and later to the position of European Union chief diplomat.

Invited to "Të Pashoj", he was asked about the arrest of the Italian diplomat. Kulla said that Mogherini did not show political talent and that her promotion came as a result of Matteo Renzi's internal movements in the Democratic Party of Italy.

Kulla said that Mogherini worked as a technician in the external structures of the Democratic Party. He explained that Renzi decided to block Massimo D'Alema's return to the main stage of Italian diplomacy and then his candidacy for the top job in Brussels. "The person who benefited was Mogherini, despite the fact that she had no political talent," Kulla said. He mentioned that President Napolitano opposed the appointment of Mogherini as foreign minister.

Ilir Kulla: Federica Mogherini is a person who surprised many when she became the foreign minister of Italy. She became the foreign minister, having worked as a technician in the foreign relations office of the Democratic Party of Italy, which is the left in Italy. And the person who promoted her is Matteo Renzi, who at that time was also, as I said, secretary, party chairman, and later prime minister. Renzi having a very strong political boss like Massimo D'Alema, who was the former leader and former prime minister, he decided to block D'Alema's appointment as foreign minister and later as commissioner for external relations in Brussels and the person who benefited was Mogherini, despite the fact that she had no political talent. This is so true that President Napolitano at that time did not want her to become foreign minister. But political jokes and I say that it was the era of the Young Turks, well, it was the era when populists had started to be promoted. And Renzi, to face the populists, thought that by finding two or three new figures, on the one hand he would sideline D'Alema, more or less like what Rama did with Nano at that time. And on the other hand he thought that these would be figures that would give... and that lady actually did five years of being a leader without becoming a leader of the European Union's foreign policy. Very indoctrinated with post-communist ideas, that is, of the new left, and she left no trace.
