At the podium set up in front of the Prime Minister's Office, during the 21st protest against the government, a citizen from Kukës delivered a strong speech against the Albanian political class, saying that the country is at a historic moment.
" I come from Kukës. This is a very historic moment and we are gathered here for the fate of a nation and the direction it will take ," he said.
According to him, Albanians today are faced with two paths: the one where politics has sought to keep them for years and the path of freedom.
" We are at a crossroads. One path is where they want to keep us, the other is the path of freedom and prosperity. We have made our choice, they can only delay our departure ," the protester said.
He said that for 35 years, Albanians have been faced with broken promises, weakening institutions, and a massive exodus of young people from the country.
" For 35 years we have only had promises, institutions have been weakened, our sons have been forcibly removed. Millions have fled abroad ," he said.
In his speech, the protester emphasized that the demand for justice is not simply a call for prison, but for political and moral responsibility.
" For democracy to come, justice is also needed, that's why we are calling 'Rama in prison, Berisha in prison'. Prison is not the message, the message is to take responsibility, because they have stolen our lives, not just our wealth ," he declared.
Finally, he also addressed intellectuals, inviting them to become part of the protest.
" I have a call to intellectuals: if you don't stand up for this issue, when will you ?" the protester concluded his speech.
