Online pyramid schemes have not appeared now, they have been operating in Albania for three years.

These platforms have become so reliable that during August alone, the TXEX ALBANIA group collected approximately $20 million from Albanian citizens, and this denunciation is made by IT expert Gent Progni, who has uncovered their portfolio.

" From my investigation, the leader of this platform is not Albanian. The same platform has also operated in other countries, in Bulgaria and EU countries, but in Albania it is cause for concern because the amount of people is very high, reaching somewhere around 10,000 people, and from my investigation, the portfolio of this platform was somewhere around 20 million dollars during August alone, and 80% of them were deposited by Albanians ," says Progni.

But this is not the only platform in Albania. There are 6 others trying to lure Albanians financially by promising to double the money they deposit, but with one condition: each deposit is not less than 1000 euros. But in order to withdraw this money, the scammers impose another obligation – to add five new members to the group.

And then, to increase credibility, they give you the opportunity to withdraw the money. And there is no shortage of locations – sources for Top Channel indicate that in the city of Lushnja, the pyramid scheme money circulates in a coffee bar.

" There are two ways to withdraw it: they say go to Kosovo, because there you can go to an 'exchange', or any physical point in Lezha, Lushnja, Rrogozhina and Kavaja, where you get the money in cash, in hand. There is one problem - depending on the users that are added, you have the opportunity to withdraw it. So this is a pyramid, where the more people enter, the more people have the opportunity to withdraw it. This is the temptation that is made ," adds Progni.

The fraud scheme is also accepted by AKSK itself and the State Police, where in an official reaction the latter says that a criminal investigation has been launched into platforms that offer money without working.

Gent Progni says: " Legally, our state has the right to ask companies to block wallets, because if this is done, there is also the possibility of returning the money - where the IP, the phone is located. What worries me is that we have an institution for cybercrime called AKSK, and it should have noticed this a long time ago ."

Even though this scheme has now been made public, they continue their work, asking Albanian citizens for $400 to secure their account - otherwise, no withdrawals are allowed. / Top Channel
