Ilir Meta, President of the PL, who has been in prison since October 2024 following the decisions of the Criminal Court of Kosovo, is demanding the replacement of the personal security measure "arrest with imprisonment".
The hearing where the request for changing the security measure will be reviewed will be held at the Special Court of Appeal on September 8.
SPAK has filed 3 charges against Meta: passive corruption, forgery of seals and stamps, and money laundering.

Subject: Appeal against decision no. 546, dated 13.08.2025, of the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, with the subject: Replacement of the personal security measure of “Arrest in prison”, for citizen Ilir Metaj, accused of the criminal offenses of “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”, “Forgery of seals, stamps or forms”, “Laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense”.
Article 260 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Legal basis: This court has also been moved on the appeal filed by the defendant you represent. Your failure to appear without reasonable cause will result in your replacement with a defense attorney, appointed by the Special Court of Appeals ," the request states.
