Following the Supreme Court's decision, the GJKKO also rejected Malltez's request to lift the seizure of assets.
The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (SCOC) has rejected Jamarbër Malltez's request to lift the seizure measure on his assets.
Malltezi, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, had filed a request with this court on April 2 for the return of 25 properties seized by SPAK and GJKKO, arguing that he does not have sufficient income to live.
At the hearing, his legal representative stated that Malltez's bank accounts are empty. On the other hand, the Special Prosecution Office disputed this claim, emphasizing that only a portion of the assets are subject to seizure, while others remain outside this measure.
According to data made public during the investigation, Malltezi turns out to own four apartments in various European cities, namely in Munich, Brussels, Rotterdam and Budapest, with a value of several million euros. These assets were not previously declared and were identified during the SPAK investigation.
However, these properties are not included in the list of seized assets, as the prosecution has focused on assets worth around 5.4 million euros, an amount that is suspected to have been gained from the privatization of the former "Partizani" complex.
Earlier, the Supreme Court also rejected another request by Malltez to lift the seizure of assets he co-owns with Argita Berisha.
Likewise, the Supreme Court did not accept the request of the Malltezi-Berisha couple for the return of rental income, administered until now by the Agency for the Administration of Sequestered Assets.
