Scorching weekend

The weekend is expected to be dominated by clear weather and very high temperatures, with the thermometer in some areas of the country reaching up to 41 degrees Celsius.

According to forecasts, stable weather conditions will continue in the first days of next week, bringing sunny weather and high temperatures throughout the territory.

The weather change is expected to come by mid-week, when increased cloudiness, low-intensity rainfall are forecast in most of the country, as well as brief thunderstorms accompanied by electrical discharges.

"The positioning of the high-pressure area over Europe and the strengthening of the African and Azores anticyclones have led to hot weather and full days of sunshine."

The weekend will see stable weather conditions with clear and sunny weather, but there will be some cloudiness in the mountainous areas.  Winds will blow at a speed of 7 meters per second, causing sea waves to be 1-2 force.

Regarding thermal conditions, temperatures are expected to be 22-41 degrees Celsius.  The same situation will apply for the beginning of the week, where the weather is expected to be clear. Temperatures will continue to rise, to 40-41 degrees Celsius.

A deterioration in conditions is expected in midweek. We will have cloudy weather and the cloudiness will be accompanied by low-intensity rainfall in most of the territory, but there will also be precipitation in the form of short-term thunderstorms, accompanied by electrical discharges.

"The wind will blow at a speed of 8 meters per second to 18 meters per second.  A significant drop in temperatures is expected, with temperatures predicted to be no more than 35-36 degrees Celsius," said weather forecaster Elida Maloçali.
