Former prosecutor Ervin Karanxha stated that the law was seriously violated in the construction of the National Road, bringing serious consequences to the country's economy. According to him, loans with very high interest rates were taken, which continue to be paid by Albanian citizens.
Karanxha emphasized that legal procedures were not followed properly, or did not exist at all, while the prices stipulated in the contracts were three to four times higher than market prices.
He stated that the criminal case was brought out of time through procedural games and was dismissed with the procedure, blaming the former Chief Prosecutor General, Ina Rama. According to him, the recent amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code allow the filing of charges even outside the time limit for procedural acts. He emphasized that this matter should be investigated by SPAK.
"The law has been seriously violated on the National Road and this has brought very serious consequences to the country's economy, because several loans with very high percentages have been taken, which are paid by the Albanian people. A different procedure should have been followed, or there was no procedure at all. The prices foreseen in the contract have been three or four times more expensive than market prices.

"This issue was not started by SPAK. I think it should be opened. This is a 600 million euro theft file, it is equal to all the files that can be discussed today. We are dealing with five times the prices ," he said on the "Real Story" show.
