Underground extortionists leave Albania, they made millions of euros and they

These companies have shown problems with payments, they do not pay the status or supplement that employees are entitled to by law.

Fiks Fare denounced on Thursday evening the subcontractor companies that have worked in the Patos - Marinzë oil field, granted under concession to the "Bankers" firm, which, after earning tens of millions of euros, have already begun to leave, leaving the workers to their fate.

These companies have shown problems with payments, they do not pay the status or supplement that employees are entitled to by law.

These firms justify themselves by saying that they do not know whether they should pay them the status or the supplement, while state institutions such as the Labor Inspectorates or Social Security do not even check them. These are a network of firms linked to the concessionaire, "Bankers", which have started to show problems immediately after the SPAK investigations.

The parent company's cut-off of the tap has brought all these problems, as the workers went on strike a few months ago. Their demands were simple: more dignified treatment at work, better pay, payment of supplements and status.

"They have created a large group of subcontractors. They increase the salaries of foreign workers and pay Albanians with small sums. We demand equal treatment ," the workers said, while they were on strike.

The strike ended a few months ago, but the problems did not! A 35-year-old man, who has worked for 10 years at an oil company "Weatherford" Ltd., has complained to the editorial office of Fiks Fare.

"I worked at a well drilling rig. I dealt with well services. I was a subcontractor and dealt with concessionaires. The company had a foreign owner. The administrator was an Italian. I worked from 2014 to 2024. They left the status unpaid. According to the laws, they should have paid it," the citizen claims.

He adds that he asked the company administrators and they told him that "we don't know where to pay it." "The status is 5% of the salary, 2% must be paid by the employee (worker) and 3% must be paid by the employer (company). We have never been notified that we have to pay it, not even by state institutions," the worker adds.

He says he is surprised by the fact that the problem is not just with him, but the problem has occurred throughout the field. No one pays!

Fiks Fare has learned that even the large concessionary firm does not pay the status and supplement. "I went to Social Security, and they told me that they definitely have to pay the status. So far, they have not paid it.

If the status is paid, the pension is higher. He works in another country and gets that status for 15 years of oil and retires even faster. If an individual in another job turns 65, he turns 60. The pension is higher and he also benefits from the years, " the worker continues.

Fiksi asked him whether the firm is active or not, and he replied that they have currently closed the offices they had in Fier. "The firm is only active in the National Business Center, with letters. But it no longer provides services in the field."

We worked at the Patos - Marinzë source site, at the concessionaire, the firm 'Bankers'. The firm he was employed by, 'Weatherford' Ltd., was a subcontractor. The termination of the contract from the concessionaire to the subcontractor brought these problems and almost all the employees were laid off," the citizen concludes.

After the complaint, the citizen goes to the Social Security Office in Fier to ask whether the company has paid the status or not.

The employee checks the system and says, “No, they haven't paid.” The citizen asks if they haven't paid for him, or for all the employees. He says, “No one has paid for everyone.”

Fiks Fare has learned that, in addition to this company, another company, "Petro Solution", has shown problems. The workers of this company have not received their salaries for November. These are again companies whose only income comes from "Bankers", which have been paid regularly and in amounts that reach tens of millions of euros.

"These are the firms that extorted money from 'Bankers'. A Chinese took it over 3 years ago and was also doing work for the Chinese. They were the same ," the employee claims.

It is learned that the firm deals with geological activities, production enrichment technology, cutting and drilling in the oil sector. The company has been in Albania for several years, founded by Ramil Kimurov, a 30-year-old from Kazakhstan.

Then, in February 2023, this person sells the company to a Chinese firm for 100,000 euros. The CKB documents show that the firm in question, after changing owners, has made millions of euros and hundreds of thousands more in profits.

Journalists talk to Dritan Shah, president of the Hydrocarbon Sector Union. He says that to their knowledge, some of these concession companies that have taken over the oil fields do not implement the status law at all. “These companies do not pay the payment to the state that is made for benefits due to the profession and the payment that is made for the supplementary because they are two different payments that are made.

"The 5% status effect payment, which is divided into 3% to be paid by the employer and 2% by the employee, is not paid, as is the supplement, which is divided into 2.5% of the salary by the employer and 2.5% of the salary by the employee," he claims.

He further claims that the Union has made several requests to the Social Security and Labor Inspectorate, or even to the companies themselves. "The Inspectorate should do an inspection. We have been holding these strike rallies for several days in a row and one of the problems has been the status, the Inspectorate should do its duty. Make findings and show that the status is not paid and should be paid according to the law. The law is not being implemented," he says.

In the end, he says that "companies have said that we do not find any adaptation to the law, but it is not true that there are companies that pay it." According to him, there are both private and state-owned companies that pay it, such as "Albpetrol" or another company "Ani Oil" that has recently started paying it./Fiks Fare
