An unexpected development has come from the US State Department. Altin Dumani, head of SPAK, will be received today in Washington by the Senior Officer for the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Brendan P. Hanrahan. The news was made public by the State Department itself on its official website.
But who is Brendan Hanrahan? Upon Rubio's arrival in office, he replaced senior foreign service member Louis Bono as head of the US State Department's Bureau of European Affairs. He is the highest-ranking State Department official for Europe.
Hanrahan was an investor in a private American firm and previously worked as a policy advisor for the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship under Marco Rubio.
“ Brendan Hanrahan is the Senior Officer in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs (EUR). Prior to joining the Department of State, Mr. Hanrahan was an investor at Bain Capital on the North American Private Equity team, where he led deals and partnered with companies in the Consumer and Business Services sectors. Previously, he served as a policy advisor to the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, serving under then-Chairman Rubio. He began his career at McKinsey & Company where he supported public and private sector clients.
Mr. Hanrahan holds an AB degree from Harvard College and an MBA degree from Stanford Business School ,” the DASH website states.
