The 625 thousand euro investment for the reconstruction of the Pojan school in

In September 2022, this school was inaugurated and opened its doors to students from several villages of the Peja Administrative Unit. But 3 years later, the school did not open its doors to welcome students this September.

Three years ago, the government invested in the reconstruction of the 9-year "Rufan Hakrama" school in Pojan, Peza, after the damage it suffered from the November 2019 earthquake.

The reconstruction of this school cost the state budget 625 thousand euros.

In September 2022, this school was inaugurated and opened its doors to students from several villages of the Peza Administrative Unit. But 3 years later, the school did not open its doors to welcome students this September. It was closed as a result of the decrease in the number of students, i.e. the quotas were not met.

So, over 40 children from the villages of Grecë, Pojanë, and Gjyslykanë are forced to start the new school year in Peza e Madhe.

Fiksi saw the empty school up close and asked its director in a phone call what was the reason for its closure. Director Afërdita Belba told Fiksi that the number of students had decreased, where last year the lessons were held in collective classes and at the request of the parents, it was requested that these students be sent to the “16 Shtatori” school in Peza e Madhe. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the parents say that they were forced to take their children to Peza, after the school in Pojan was closed. “I want to take my daughter to school here because she is sick,” says one of the residents.

When asked about this issue, the village headman said he had no knowledge, he had simply heard that the school had been closed.

So the investment of 625 thousand euros went to waste, for a building empty of students and which, although only three years old, has already begun to deteriorate and be covered in garbage.

Lubinje, a village with two clubs and no school.

The same fate befell the school in the village of Lubinje in Gramsh. The 9-year school in this village will not open this year. Last year there were 5 children, but 4 of them finished 9th grade and one of them, who is in 7th grade this year, will go to Gramsh to continue school. The school bell did not ring today and it is not known when it will ring again, because the village has no more children.

From today, the Lubinje village school will be there as a "museum" to prove that there were once children here./ Fiksfare
