Today at 10:00, the ceremony of handing over duties from Altin Dumani to the new president, Klodian Braho, began at the Special Prosecutor's Office.
For SPAK, this is considered an important moment for ensuring continuity and further strengthening the work of the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime.
Altin Dumani delivers his speech on his departure from office as head of SPAK and stated that "today one of the most challenging chapters of his career as a prosecutor closes."
"Before I give the floor to Mr. Braho, allow me to say two words. Today closes one of the most challenging chapters of my career as a prosecutor. In every step we have worked with integrity and professionalism. SPAK is stronger and more consolidated than before. This is the result of everyone's work. I would like to thank you sincerely for your dedication, integrity and sacrifices. I also express my gratitude to the international partners who have been by our side at every step. A special thank you to the Albanian public, whose trust has been our greatest strength," said Dumani.
During his speech, Dumani wished Braho success, expressing confidence that he will continue his work in strengthening the Special Anti-Corruption Structure.
"I wish Mr. Braho much success in his new position and I am convinced that he will build on the 6-year legacy by advancing SPAK's mission with integrity and determination," said Dumani, also thanking SPAK employees for their dedication and sacrifices, as well as international partners for the support provided.
Klodian Braho has been elected head of SPAK for a 3-year term, following a decision taken by the High Prosecutorial Council (KLP) during the marathon session of December 11.
Klodian Braho was voted in by 7 members of the KLP, securing the necessary majority to take over the leadership of the institution. There were five candidates in the race. In addition to Braho, Adnan Xholi, Doloreza Musabelliu and Elvin Gokaj also ran. In the final vote, three members of the KLP supported Adnan Xholi, one vote went to Elvin Gokaj, while no votes were cast for Doloreza Musabelliu.
The mandate of the head of SPAK is 3 years and does not provide for the right to re-election.
Altin Dumani, who took over the leadership of the institution after Arben Kraja, the first director of SPAK, thus completes his leadership role and will continue his work as SPAK prosecutor until 2028, when his 9-year mandate ends.
Dumani closes the leadership cycle amid continuous requests to give SPAK prosecutors the opportunity to run for re-election.
