Lawyer Spartak Ngjela has criticized the way the race for the leadership of the Democratic Party is being conducted, stating that the lack of candidates facing Sali Berisha shows a lack of democracy within the party.
Ngjela also focused on the political situation in the country, stating that the current majority does not have a real opposition.
According to him, one of the main reasons is related to the fact that the opposition leader has been declared "non grata" by the US and the European Union.
"The only anti-Western and anti-European, anti-American weakness in Albania is Sali Berisha, who is non grata in America and the EU. He is non grata for anti-American and anti-Western activities," Ngjela told "TCH".
He also commented on Albania's European integration process, stating that the majority has not made any mistakes in this regard.
"The role of the majority in the integration process is very clear. I am an opponent of the socialists, but they have not made any mistakes regarding integration. It is continuing step by step normally," said the lawyer.
Ngjela also addressed the issue of Belinda Balluku's immunity, emphasizing that the majority acted in accordance with the law.
"Did the majority violate any law regarding Balluk's immunity? No. The majority was elected by the Albanian people. I am legal. It is a large majority and has no opponents," he declared.
While commenting on the elections within the Democratic Party, where Sali Berisha remained the only candidate after Mereme Sela's disqualification, Ngjela said that the leader of the DP does not allow real competition within the party.
"The fact that there is no competition in the DP is because Saliu does not let it. This is how it is spoken even in front of a court. Saliu does not allow democracy to be respected. What is democracy? To have more than one representative in the competition. Berisha is afraid of confrontation," concluded Ngjela.
