The implementation of the criminal amnesty in prisons in Albania begins today. The implementation of the criminal amnesty in prisons in Albania has begun. According to data reported by journalist Anila Hoxha, 541 convicts will benefit from immediate release and will be released from prison today, while hundreds of others will benefit from reduced sentences or other forms of relief.
In addition to the 541 people who are released, 803 convicts benefit from a reduction in sentence, 173 people benefit from a recalculation of the sentence, 124 cases are related to several court decisions, while 67 convicts benefit from the consolidation of sentences. Also, 609 people do not benefit from the criminal amnesty, as they do not meet the criteria set out in the law.
The institutions with the highest number of releases are:
Lushnja – 127 released
Fier – 104 released
Reçi (Malësi e Madhe) – 101 released
Rrogozhina – 94 released
Korça – 60 released.
On the other hand, the higher number of people who do not benefit from the amnesty results in:
Reçi (Malësi e Madhe) – 160 convicts
Peqin – 156
Fier – 80
Korca – 66
Burrel – 44
Durres – 32
The process of releasing prisoners has begun today and is taking place in all institutions for the execution of criminal decisions, under the supervision of the relevant authorities.
