Former KLP leader Alfred Balla has revealed the behind-the-scenes story behind the election of Altin Dumani as head of SPAK. With Dumani still a few months away from his post, Balla has spoken for the first time about the meeting attended by Ambassador Yuri Kim.
Invited to "Ma Shqip" with Flamur Vezaj, he indicated that there was no direct intervention by the Americans.
" Personally, I think it was a free election. I took the arrival of the ambassador with sportsmanship. Because at the moment we were waiting for a candidate, I saw that there was a noise from the door that the journalists, the bodyguards came in. Ms. Kim waved to me and sat down. I attended the session and then said that the ambassador had come and that some ICITAP programs are supported by them, and I did not take it as a sign of pressure, because what pressure would the presence of the ambassador bring? We have met all the ambassadors. Not only her, because in my office there was no ambassador who did not come. Everyone was worried about how the best one would be chosen ," he said.
